Las Vegas Market

My former business partner and really good friend Nathan went to the last Las Vegas Market and he reminded me that the next one is coming up shortly and he encouraged me to go. Apparently it's a smorgasbord of home furnishings and a great place to scope out new resources and vendors. Go here for more information and to view the online directory listing the hundreds of resources available at Las Vegas Market.

See you there!

Michael Smith and Laguna Beach

I'm trying to highlight Orange County homes that are published in national design publications in my blog. Last week I posted about Melissa Palazzo's fabulous home in Costa Mesa. Today I wanted to post about the home in Laguna Beach that Michael Smith designed the interior for, published in the October issue of House Beautiful. The owner of the home shopped in Europe for antique stone and construction materials, and Michael Smith lent his expertise to make sure the furnishings, lighting, fabric, and accessories blended well with the architecture and hard surface materials of the home. I love the interior design of this Laguna Beach house. The decorative elements don't compete with the strong architectural story, but they definitely enhance the space and make it a sophisticated, cozy place live.

Photos were taken from Michael Smith's website and Fauxology.

Wedding Flowers

This weekend my mom, sister, and I headed over to Arizona for my mom's best friend's wedding. We had a great time and it was a simple but very pretty ceremony in her friend's backyard. The bride had told me a few weeks ago that she was going to order some white roses but wanted me to arrange them in vases for the center pieces. Even though all we used was white roses, I loved the beautiful simplicity and sophistication of the arrangments. Sometimes less is more.

Ace Hotel - Palm Springs

I was chatting online with one of my good friends today, trying to plan a fun weekend getaway for a group of our friends. He suggested Palm Springs and sent me the link to a cool little hotel that has been built on the foundation of a 1965 Howard Johnson hotel, Ace Hotel & Swim Club. This classy little joint has a retro-industrial vibe and reminds me more of an LA loft than a Palm Springs hotel. My bags are already packed...
